Concept Tagging
Tag clouds are a familiar technology to many Web users: graphical word arrays in various font sizes that represent the importance of each word in the accompanying document.
But not all tag clouds are created equal. TextWise's concept tags are enhanced by our Semantic Gist® technology. As a result, they go deeper than basic "word count"-type clouds to extract a list of weighted concepts in the content and represent that information quickly.
The TextWise concept tag service generates concept tags for any text, no matter what subject. Essential concepts are extracted, analyzed and displayed in an intuitive format, giving users a more incisive thumbnail of each document's essence.
TextWise concept tags are available in RDF, rel tag, tag cloud, XML and JSON formats.
Below is an example of the tag cloud output format often used in folksonomy applications:

The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race is an annual long-distance sled dog race run in early March from Anchorage to Nome. Mushers and a team of 12-16 dogs, of which at least 6 must be on the towline at the finish line, cover the distance in 9–15 days. The Iditarod began in 1973 as an event to test the best sled dog mushers and teams but evolved into today's highly competitive race.
