Service Configurations

Overview

With the exception of the 'Match' service, all other services allow the specification of a configuration ID to be included in the request path. These configuration IDs instruct the system on which semantic dictionary to use when performing its semantic analysis. Additionally, the configuration ID specifies which filter to apply to the content that was provided in the request. The following table details the available configuration IDs that can be used.

Default Configuration IDs:

The default configuration ID for signature and concept requests is odp_2007_l1_1.7k.

The default configuration ID for category requests is odp_2010_categorization.

The configuration used when generating categories for the SEMANTIC_CATEGORY facet in all TextWise public indexes is based on the odp_2009_l1_1.6k configuration. The category ID values for the SEMANTIC_CATEGORY facet are compatible with those generated using the odp_2009_l1_1.6k configuration in API category requests.

odp_2007_l1_1.7k All semantic analysis is performed with 1,700 Semantic Dimensions that were built using the Open Directory Project taxonomy. This is the default configuration for signatures and concept requests. dimension labels

odp_2009_l1_1.6k An updated version of our ODP based configuration that contains approximately 1700 dimensions and data from May of 2009. Please note that the signatures produced by this configuration are not interchangeable with signatures produced by the 2007 ODP configuration. dimension labels

odp_2010_categorization An enhanced version of the odp_2009_l1_1.6k configuration that provides an increase in accuracy for category requests. This is now the default configuration ID used for category service requests. It provides more granularity when classifying text, as well as the choice of Long or Short category labels. Long labels are returned by default. Short category labels that can be returned when the 'useShortLabels' parameter is set to 'true' in category requests.

Note: Use of any other configuration ID for category service requests is discouraged. There are less category IDs in this configuration and they do not match up with the odp_2009_l1_1.6k configuration. The following file maps the new category IDs to the previous IDs in the odp_2009_l1_1.6k configuration: 2010-ODP-Topic-Category-Mapping.txt
