Matching

Traditional search engines use short phrases known as keywords to sort and analyze the websites and documents in their archive. These keywords are typically a reflection of the phrases that appear most often on a given page — "dog collars" for a pet store, for example.

But the limitations of this approach are profound. A traditional keyword search won't tell you anything about the context in which a given phrase is used. It also can't identify key concepts within a complex document that may not use the most common words for those concepts.

Deeper & More Sophisticated
TextWise Semantic Gist® addresses these problems by analyzing documents in a deeper and more sophisticated way. Unlike traditional search software that essentially counts word frequencies or page links, semantic software is designed to extract broader nuances of meaning, intention and theme. By modeling text around concepts and creating a weighted concept representation for any text, our semantic mapping helps identify the intent of ambiguous words and align synonyms to the same meaning. TextWise semantic matching returns a list of related documents whose similarities to the original document go far beyond keywords.

There are countless enterprise applications for advanced semantic matching: complex information retrieval tasks that cover thousands of documents, advanced matching of highly technical content for CRM, monetization and discovery on IP filings, and more. The process is incredibly fast and useful.
